Adopt A Less Adoptable Pet Week!

Petfinder.com has designated this week (September 17- 25) as "Adopt-A-Less_Adoptable-Pet" Week. My mom has a soft spot in her heart for Petfinder.com, that's where she found me! My litter mates and I were dumped at a Georgia kill-shelter, all of us suffering from Parvo. Parvo is very expensive to treat, so things didn't look very good for us. Thankfully, 11th Hour Rescue, from Hopatcong, NJ rescued us. They brought us here to New Jersey and had all of us treated and cared for, thanks to their wonderful volunteers and contributers. We now share our home with three senior kitties *whispering, now they're 19 years young!*, all adopted as "mature" adults (9+ years) and with two (mostly black) kittens found on our street during the Christmas holidays. We love them all (just don't tell my doggy pals at the lounge, 'kay?). It breaks our hearts to see so many pets needing to enjoy the comfort and love of their forever families. I'd like to introduce you to a couple of special pets featured at 11th Hour, the first is Mason, a Shepherd/Hound mix. Here is his story:
"My name is Mason. I am a 5-6 month old shepherd\hound\mastiff mix. I will be around 40-45 lbs. when I am full grown. I used to live way down south, but some really nice people brought me all the way to NJ, so I can have a better chance at finding a home. "I am what everyone calls a “special needs” dog. I was born with a non-contagious virus that caused nerve damage to my back legs. So, I am unable to walk. I may be a candidate for wheelchair when I am all grown up, but for now I have to be carried. I really don’t mind that one bit, because I love to be cuddled. I am very sweet and such a happy dog and even though I am different from other dogs I don’t let that bother me. I am unique and have lots of love to give a new family. Please consider adopting me." (His page is at: http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/19829896 )
And another wonderful hound, Pacer. He is eleven to twelve years old and has lived in horrible conditions. He's never known the love and kindness of a real home. He deserves to spend the rest of his years being loved and cared for. You can visit his page here: http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/18371989. More information about Pacer, Mason and so many other wonderful doggies & kitties can be found at www.ehrdogs.org or at www.Petfinder.com. Please consider opening your heart and home to a deserving creature. But if you're like us and you have a full house already, there's lots of other ways to help your local shelters. Bring them dog and cat food, kitty litter, old towels, blankets, toys. If you have time, volunteer to come and walk the doggies or play with the kitties. Every little bit helps! Thanks so much for stopping by, barooo 'til later buddies!

  1. Hopefully someone finds these special guys to be perfectly adoptable. "Less adoptable" is in the eye of the beholder, or in our case, the two "less adoptable" cats who chose us! We love our 10-year old 3-legged cat and our younger black cat.

  2. Awwww, I just luvs your post Prudence! Momma has soft spot for petfinder.com too. That is actually where I found her and LociLu found her too.

That sweet pup is so cute, we hope he finds a very loving home. The older pup deserves the very best for the rest of his life, hope he gets it.

  3. Thank you Baby Patchesm we hope so too! Isn't Petfinder.com the greatest ever? They've made it so much easier for us to find our forever homes!

  4. Such really sweet animals. Breaks our hearts to see so many seniors just sitting there waiting for a forever home.

  5. I want them all to come live with us but mom and dad say we have no room. I hope some peeps will give these dogs furever homes!
